Job description

We are seeking a motivated Barista Apprentice to join our team. This role offers hands‑on training in coffee preparation, customer service, and daily café operations under the supervision of experienced baristas.

Key Responsibilities
• Assist in preparing and serving hot and cold beverages to a high standard.
• Learn to operate espresso machines, grinders, and other café equipment safely.
• Take customer orders and ensure friendly, efficient service.
• Maintain a clean and organised workspace, including washing dishes and equipment.
• Develop knowledge of coffee beans, brewing techniques, and drink recipes.
• Support colleagues during busy periods and contribute to a positive team environment.

Person Specification / Requirements
• Prior experience is required; full on‑the‑job training support is provided.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
• Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
• Flexible availability, including weekends and bank holidays.

To become an apprentice, you must :
• Be 16 or over
• Not already be in full‑time education

As an apprentice you’ll :
• Complete a food and beverage team member apprenticeship standard
• Have regular one‑to‑one sessions with a trainer either remotely or through visits to your workplace
• Learn and train for a specific job
• Get paid and receive holiday leave
• Get hands‑on experience in a real job
• Study for at least 20% of your working hours

Complete assessments during and at the end of your apprenticeship
• Be on a career path with lots of future potential

Future Prospects

This vacancy is for at least duration of the apprenticeship programme. There is also the possibility of a full‑time role following successful completion of the apprenticeship.
