Job Title: Social Worker – Support & Protection
Location: Workington, Cumberland
Pay Rate: £45 per hour

Sanctuary Personnel is recruiting an experienced Social Worker – Support & Protection to join a statutory children’s social care service in Workington, Cumberland. This is a high-paying temporary opportunity for a skilled practitioner to work within a Support and Protection team, managing complex safeguarding cases and delivering high-quality frontline practice.
This role is well suited to a confident social worker with strong experience in child protection, child in need, and court work, who can work effectively with families and partner agencies to safeguard vulnerable children and young people.
Key Responsibilities
• Manage a caseload of children subject to Child in Need, Child Protection, and Looked After Children plans
• Undertake robust statutory assessments, risk assessments, and safeguarding interventions
• Prepare high-quality reports for child protection conferences, core groups, and court proceedings
• Carry out direct work with children, young people, and families to reduce risk and promote safety
• Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, police, and legal services
• Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant case records
• Apply current legislation, statutory guidance, and safeguarding frameworks to all practice
Requirements
• Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
• Recent experience within a Support & Protection or Child Protection team
• Strong knowledge of children’s legislation, safeguarding procedures, and court processes
• Ability to manage complex and high-risk cases effectively
• Excellent assessment, communication, and report-writing skills
